Position: Director of Finance

The Director of Finance is a key management position responsible for heading the Finance Office of Koforidua Technical University. This individual will be accountable to the Vice-Chancellor and will ensure the University’s financial administration complies with the Public Management Act, 2016 (Act 922).

Qualifications and Experience:

Candidates interested in this position must meet the following requirements:

• Hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field and be a Chartered Accountant.
• Be a member of a recognized professional accountancy body in good standing.
• Possess at least twelve (12) years of post-professional accountancy experience in a tertiary institution, industry, or relevant public service or corporate organization.
• Have served as a Deputy Director of Finance in a University or a comparable grade in a similar institution/organization for at least six (6) years.

In addition, applicants should demonstrate the following qualities:

• Analytical, critical, result-oriented, innovative, and visionary.
• Hands-on ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and supervisory skills.
• Strong team player.
• Proficiency in IT and familiarity with accounting software.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Proactive commercial flair.

Duties & Responsibilities:

As the Director of Finance, you will be responsible for the following:

• Serving as the Chief Accounting Officer and Chief Financial Advisor to the Vice-Chancellor.
• Ensuring the financial health of the University and exercising direct superintendence over all accounting officers.
• Collecting all legitimate revenue due to the University.
• Exercising control over expenditure in alignment with the University’s objectives and budgets.
• Preparing the annual budget for presentation to the appropriate governing body for approval and implementation.
• Ensuring financial statements comply with applicable laws, regulations, and accounting standards.
• Coordinating with external auditors for the University’s financial statements’ audit.

Term of Office:

The Director of Finance will serve a four-year term, with the possibility of re-appointment for a further term, provided no part of the second term enters the compulsory retirement age.
