The University of Washington is giving Fully Funded Master’s on Climate Adaptation and Maladaptation

The WATERS Research Collaborative (Water, Adaptation and Transformation: Equity, Resilience & Sustainability) in the School of Environmental and Forest Sciences at the University of Washington is recruiting one Master’s student for Fall 2023. The successful applicant will develop a critical and interdisciplinary thesis-based research project analyzing equity and sustainability outcomes of climate adaptation, centered around water, food, and livelihoods. The WATERS Research Collaborative, led by Dr. Sameer Shah, invites applicants to consider water as applied to diverse environmental change contexts, such as drought, heat exposure, flooding, and extreme events, with multi-faceted and context-specific impacts on the lives of frontline communities. While not required, Dr. Shah welcomes applications that focus and build on current research projects (see: here)

The student will be required to apply for admission to the School of Environmental and Forest Sciences at the University of Washington by December 1, 2022. Students eligible for the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program are expected to apply either prior to entrance or in their second year.

If not externally supported, the successful applicant will be funded by a half-time (50% FTE) Research Assistantship over two years, for at least three quarters per year.
