Introduction

The Department of Environmental and Sustainable Engineering (ESE) at the College of Nanotechnology, Science, and Engineering (CNSE) at the University at Albany, State University of New York, invites applications for a Ph.D. position in Dr. Aynul Bari’s air quality lab starting from Fall 2024. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the EPA’s enhanced air quality monitoring project for underserved communities.

Research Focus

The prospective Ph.D. student will actively participate in various aspects of the project, including:

  • Low-cost air quality sensor data analysis
  • Indoor and outdoor sample collection
  • Lab analysis for hazardous air pollutants or air toxics
  • Source apportionment modeling

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • M.S. degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Research experience in air quality sampling, chemical analysis, and source apportionment modeling.
  • Working knowledge of Python and/or R for data analysis.
  • Preferably, experience with LC-MS-MS, IC, and GC-MS.
