Introduction: A reputable private university in Accra is currently inviting applications for the position of Head of Department (HOD) for Communication Arts. The successful candidate will report to the Dean of the Associated Faculty and will be responsible for leading, managing, and developing the department to ensure excellence in all aspects of its activities. Responsibilities of the Head of Department: As the Head of Department for Communication Arts, your role will involve:

  1. Leadership and Management:
  • Provide effective leadership and management for the department, ensuring its smooth operation and growth.
  • Work closely with the faculty and colleagues to promote excellence in teaching and research.
  • Develop and implement strategies to attract new students and expand market reach.
  1. Responsibility for Teaching and Students:
  • Ensure an exceptional student experience through proper management of admission, instruction, progress, and examination processes.
  • Comply with faculty and university regulations and procedures.
  • Continuously refresh and develop new programs to attract students and meet market demands.
  1. Responsibility for Research:
  • Maintain high standards of quality, integrity, and ethical practices in research activities.
  • Foster a dynamic and forward-looking research environment for both faculty and students.
  1. Contribution to University-wide Initiatives:
  • Collaborate with university-wide initiatives to enhance understanding and communication within the field of Communication Arts.
  1. People Management:
  • Implement university HR policies and procedures.
  • Support and provide necessary resources for staff development and growth.
  • Cultivate a culture of excellence, cooperation, and respect within and beyond the department.
  • Seek opportunities for collaboration and joint working with other departments and faculties.
  • Ensure student representation in decision-making processes.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment, complying with health and safety requirements.

Qualifications & Skills Required: To be considered for this position, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Ph.D. degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in a student-focused academic or administrative environment.
