Job Purpose:

As the Head of Internal Audit, your primary responsibility will be to develop and implement a robust internal control system that safeguards resources, ensures accurate and reliable records, and promotes efficient and orderly work processes. You will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with banking laws, company regulations, and directives from regulatory bodies. Moreover, you will be an integral part of the Executive Management committee and will report directly to the Board Sub-Committee on Audit and Governance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure strict compliance with banking laws, the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992), directives by the Bank of Ghana, ARB Apex Bank, and the bank’s policies.
  • Continuously assess the effectiveness of internal controls and propose new controls for consideration by the board’s audit & governance sub-committee.
  • Collaborate with management to enhance risk management processes, control environments, and operational efficiency, including governance and operations.
  • Develop a comprehensive annual internal audit program and conduct financial, operational, and compliance audits in accordance with the program.
  • Investigate any irregularities brought to the auditor’s attention or discovered during audits.
  • Conduct follow-up reviews to ensure that corrective actions are taken in response to deficiencies noted during audits.
  • Assist the audit committee in fulfilling its duties and responsibilities to the bank.
  • Perform any other duties consistent with the goals, objectives, and responsibilities of the internal audit department.

Qualifications Required:

  • Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of continuous qualification experience in internal audit/compliance and Banking Operations, preferably with 2 years at the managerial level.
  • Proficiency in T24 Banking software.
  • Professional qualification in Accounting or Banking (ACCA, ACIB, ICAG, CIT, CIA) is a pre-requisite for the position.
