Background and Job Purpose:

WFP Ghana has been at the forefront of national development, supporting a comprehensive food systems and nutrition program. This program emphasizes private sector participation in preventing malnutrition, transforming agricultural value chains, and strengthening social protection programs. The new integrated nutrition strategy focuses on addressing malnutrition across the lifecycle through Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) and enhancing food security and nutrition outcomes. In this role, you will provide specialized support and technical analyses to the nutrition unit to effectively meet nutrition programming objectives.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Head of Nutrition in Accra, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical support and assisting in the development and implementation of various nutrition activities aligned with program policies and guidelines.
  • Offering specialized project management support to ensure activities are performed within established targets and WFP procedures.
  • Drafting agreements, including Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) and Field Level Agreements (FLA), with partners in line with WFP policies and guidelines.
  • Acting as a point of contact for operational queries and problem-solving related to payment requests, requisitions, and purchase orders.
  • Preparing reports, tracking agreement status with partners, and ensuring deliverables adhere to corporate standards and quality control.
  • Collaborating with the Research, Assessment, Monitoring, and Evaluation (RAME) team to accurately record and present nutrition data to stakeholders.
  • Liaising with other functional units within WFP to support collaboration, implementation, and monitoring of project activities.
  • Performing any additional tasks as requested by the supervisor.

Qualification and Desired Experience:

To be considered for this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • First degree in Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, or a related field. An advanced degree in a related area is advantageous.
  • Minimum of six years of experience in nutrition and/or public health-related activities.
  • Experience supporting governments in developing nutrition policies and implementing nutrition programs within food security or health contexts.
  • Proficiency in performing administrative tasks, including budget tracking.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral in English.
  • Good computer knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and effectively engage with colleagues and partners.
  • Maturity, initiative, courtesy, tact, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Willingness to handle additional tasks as requested by the supervisor.
