Title: Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer Team: Technology
Location: Accra, Ghana
About the Role:
This is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced Fintech start-up that is determined to make a great impact in Ghana and other West African countries. We are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to work on our infrastructure to deliver the best user experience to our customers. As a core member of our infrastructure engineering team, you will build and maintain major features, through design, implementation, and post deployment, working closely with product and engineering teams.
You will spend most of your time maintaining our production environments whilst having a sole focus on high availability, scalability, performance, disaster recovery and observability, all whilst using some of the latest and greatest technologies in today’s cloud scene.

Mission:
● Own the implementation, deployment, improvement, and maintenance of the company’s IT Infrastructure
● Ensure the efficient operation of all IT systems that support various business functions within the company
● Ensure the availability and reliability of critical Infrastructure, platform services, and applications
Outcomes (first 12-18 months):
● Provide hands on technical and network support, analysis, and issue resolution for issues related to network infrastructure and services, servers, databases, and/or any other technical services
● Contribute to the development of best practices within our IT & Security team
● Partner with key business functions to determine business requirements to inform IT
service and Security/Compliance needs
● Partner with the CTO to build and operate sustainable production systems

● Continually improve and optimize company efficiency through process improvement and automation
● Maintain 99.95% availability on critical infrastructure and services
● Ensure that key services are maintained to ensure integrity and availability to agreed SLAs
with both internal and external stakeholders.
● Measure and optimize system performance, with focus on pushing beyond our current
capabilities, getting ahead of customer needs, and continuous innovation
● Ensure systems and organization operate with the absolute highest level of security
● Interact with key internal stakeholders and external third-party vendors to troubleshoot
and resolve problems
● Provide data-driven recommendations to Software Engineers towards performance
tuning, optimisation and fault finding
● Own DR drills and ensure that key data/information/services can be recovered within
agreed RPOs/RTOs.
Competencies:
● Minimum of 5 years of experience of working in IT infrastructure engineering
● Experience with Public Cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure, GCP) and On-Prem /
Private Cloud Infrastructure services
● Demonstrable career operational experience in the following areas: Operating Systems
(Linux and Windows), Middleware (appservers, webservers, databases and others), and Network Engineering (TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, IP Telephony, Firewalls, Load Balancers), DevOps (CI/CD)
● Experience of hardening IT infrastructure based on security audits, standards and industry best practice (e.g. Vulnerability Scanning, Penetration Testing, PCI-DSS, and ISO27001).
● Experience with Containers (Kubernetes, Docker, etc.)
● Good knowledge of Bash scripting language
● Team player with strong analytical skills and ability to proactively spot
problems/bottlenecks, areas for improvement, and systematically resolve problems
● An inquisitive problem solver focusing on root cause analysis
● Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to clearly communicate ideas
and results to client and company supervisors
● Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering.
